Power BI with SCCM

With sccm, it is possible to use reports natively using SQL reporting. If you want more advanced reports, more ergonomic, … It is possible to integrate Power BI with SCCM. This way you will be able to use all the power of Power Bi with SCCM.
Prerequisites
For integrate Power BI with SCCM, some prerequisites are necessary.
- System Center 2012 R2 SP1
- PowerShell v5 and .NET Framework 4.5.2 for Power BI SCCM
- Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, or later. Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or later
- User account with read access on SCCM database
- Azure SQL or SQL Server for destination database
- Valid work email address
- Machine with PowerBI Desktop installed.
Install Power BI Desktop
Click on the link for download Power BI Desktop. I installed Power Bi desktop on the SCCM server but it can be installed on another machine. When download is finished, run setup.exe file.

A wizard appear, select language and click on Next.

Accept the license terms and click on Next.

Select the destination folder. You can leave the default choice or change folder with Change button.

Click on Install for begin Install step.

Click on Finish when it’s finished.

Power BI Integration
It is now time to proceed with the integration of Power BI with SCCM. From the Github PowerBI repo, click on Microsoft-SCCMTemplate.exe.

Click on Download for download the file.

Run the previous downloaded file. A new windows appear, click on Install.

When installation is finished, a new windows appear. Click on Next.

I choose to use my admin SQL Server but you can use a user with read-only rights. Enter the password and click on Validate. If user and password has successfully validated, you can click on Next.

Enter the name of SCCM Server and click on Validate. Select the Configuration Manager database and click on Next.

Enter the name of SQL Server and choose the type of authentification (SQL Server or Windows). CLick on Validate.

Select the Configuration Manager database and click on Next.

Configure the Customize option and click on Validate. If the parameter has successfully validated, click on Next.

Click on Run for begin configuration.

When all the steps are complete, click on Download Report and save it on the computer/server.

Open Power BI Desktop and click on Try free if don’t have account for Power BI Pro.

A web page appear, enter valid work email. Follow the different steps for registration

After registration is complete, you can open Power BI Desktop and click on Sign in. Log in with the work email address. From Power BI desktop click on File, Open then on Browse.

Select the previously template and click on Open.

Click on Apply changes from the Power BI console.

Choose the desired credential and click on Connect. Click OK on Encryption Windows support.

Apply query changes is in progress.

If credential is correct, table present on SQL Database appear on the fields.
